Chairman of the Blue & White party, MK Benny Gantz, on Thursday called for the establishment of a broad-based national unity government but without including the ‘right-wing bloc’ that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu formed. This refers to the Yemina party along with Shas and Yahadut Hatorah.
Gantz emphasized that since he entered the political arena, he has been calling for achdus. “It was Netanyahu who called early election in the 21st Knesset, bringing us to the election for 22nd Knesset. He is also the only one who will possibly wish to take the nation to a third election that might fracture the residents and the country. I call on Netanyahu and the Likud from here, come to the negotiating table immediately, to discuss the issues without preconditions, without a political spin, without blocs. Do this for Am Yisrael – come and build true achdus” Gantz stated.
President Rivlin on Wednesday evening gave the mandate to form a coalition government to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. The problem remains that neither Likud or Blue & White can form a coalition without the other. Likud could do it with the parties mentioned above, the right-wing/chareidi bloc, if Avigdor Lieberman and his Yisrael Beitenu party joined in, but Lieberman has already stated his only option is a broad-base liberal national unity government with Likud and Blue & White, excluding the chareidi parties.

From the title of the article it would appear that Gantz is being all inclusive and opening up discussions on a unity government without any pre-conditions. However, the article itself makes it clear he has plenty of pre-conditions and isn’t trying to be all inclusive, i.e., he doesn’t want Netanyahu’s or the religious parties in his block. He is coming to replace the Jewish character of Israel, with secular Israeli liberalism.
“broad-based national unity government” REALLY?
No religious, no charadim, no right wingers, no Arabs, yet this is a “broad-based national unity government ?”
