Responding to the ongoing warfare in Lebanon, President Shimon Peres stated the attempted coup on Friday by Hizbullah in Lebanon was actually an attempt by Iran to take control of the Middle East.

Mr. Peres lamented the loss of innocent lives as a result of the Hizbullah offensive.
