Right-Wing Concerned as Voter Apathy May Cost the Election

Election Day for 22nd Knesset is on Tuesday, September 17, 2019. Based on voter statistics from the April 2019 election for 21st Knesset, in many major left-wing voting areas, voter turnout was significantly higher than in right-wing cities and municipalities.

The right-wing parties remain concerned, as clearly, with such a close election, based on recent polls, voter apathy will have a direct impact on the outcome of the race.

Following are the voter turnout percentages from the last election.

Left-wing areas:
Hod Hasharon 76.7%
Herzliya 67.8%
Kfar Sava 73.2%
Givatayim 71.6%
Modi’in 78%
Ra’anana 68.5%

Right-wing areas:
Be’er Sheva 61.3%
Ashkelon 62%
Netanya 60.3%
Tiveria 59.3%
Bat Yam 52.3%
Hadera 62.8%

In the final poll released ahead of the election, both Likud and Blue & White have 32 seats, and neither can form a coalition government without Avigdor Lieberman and his Yisrael Beitenu party, which received eight seats.

The right-wing/chareidi bloc has 59 seats, two short of a minimum majority, while the left-wing/centrist/Arab bloc has 53 seats.
