Border police apprehended a Palestinian with stolen vehicles at Givat Ze’ev Junction. The vehicle driven by the thief had four motorcycles inside. The driver failed to stop at the Ofer Checkpoint along the northern capital, trying to evade police inspection. While fleeing, he jumped from a height of about five meters (yards) and was injured.
The incident occurred on Friday night as border police were operating in the Ofer area of the Jerusalem envelope. They received a report of a suspect heading their way after failing to stop at a checkpoint.
The van finally came to a halt and the driver fled on foot, jumping from a 5-meter height and injuring himself lightly. He was transported to Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem in police custody with fractures to extremities.
When the van he was driving was inspected, four stolen motorcycles/scooters were found, stolen last week from the Gush Dan area. One of the stolen vehicles was a United Hatzalah emergency response scooter.
