According to Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) report on how many students there are in Israel, citing in the 5780 school year, there will be 1.819 million students, representing an increase of 29,000 students.
Perhaps more interestingly is what will occur by 2024, as we learn the greatest increase will be in the chareidi education system. While in the secular public schools the increase will be 10.7%, in the religious public schools 13.2%, in the chareidi education system, the increase will be 16.6%, while in the Arab schools, a decrease of 0.5%.
The report adds that by 2024, the number of students in the Jewish public school system is expected to reach 857,000, an increase of 83,000 as compared to 2019 (about 10.7%). In the chareidi system, the number will be 384,000, an increase of 55,000 (about 16.6%).
It is important to add the CBS report is not based on absolute facts, but on forecasts, based on birth rates last year, which may change.
This is also the reason the CBS presumes that while the largest growth will be in the chareidi sector, the annual rate of change in the Jewish public school system is still expected to remain unchanged during the forecast period (an average of 2.1% annually).
In the religious public school system, the annual rate of change in the number of students is expected to rise and in the chareidi and Arab sectors, the annual rate of change in the number of students is expected to drop slightly.

We used to keep hearing that the Arabs have a very high birth rate. And that they were soon expected to have a higher birth rate than even the religious sector.
chareidi education, unfortunately, is an oxymoron
