Maklev Accuses AG Mandelblit of “Identity Theft” with His Chareidi Appearance After Concert Fiasco

MK (Yahadut Hatorah) Uri Maklev spoke out to the media with three weeks remaining until elections for 22nd Knesset. Maklev addressed recent court rulings prohibiting separate seating at concerts for the frum community, in both Afula and Haifa. While the Afula concert did take place, during the concert, the High Court ruled the separate seating was not legal. Another concert, an MBD performance in Haifa, was canceled by the court due to separate seating. This event was for men only, labeled a “kumzitz”.

Maklev explains he and his colleagues did not appeal the Haifa court’s decision to cancel the concert to the High Court of Justice, for they felt the High Court would almost certainly give its stamp of approval to the lower court’s ruling.

One of the people Maklev blames for the attacks against the lifestyle of the chareidim is Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit, who he states is guilty of “identity theft” as his outward appearance is that of a chareidi Jew but this is not really the case based on his actions of late. Maklev feels the same is true for Mandelblit’s “alleged affiliation with a certain chassidus”, adding he no longer has expectations from anyone.

  1. maklev is a known figure in hareidi politics; his associations with various troubling figures ought to keep him quiet. unlike someone like him, Mandlebit is committed to obeying the laws of the state of Israel, not hareidi definitions of halakhic correctness. the more he talks, the more blue and white rises in the polls.

  2. DrGoy, anyone who believes that the laws of the state trump halacha is not an observant Jew, and certainly not haredi. Such a person has no chelek in the G-d of Israel, and all his mitzvos are worth nothing.
