Following another night of rocket fire from Gaza into southern Israeli communities on Sunday, Israeli fighter jets struck multiple Hamas positions including the office of a battalion commander and a Hamas base. In addition, fuel imported to Gaza from Israel, for Gaza’s electricity, has been cut.
The rockets launched into Israel on Sunday night represented rocket fire for a third time in a week.
At 2:00AM, five hours after incoming Gaza rockets activated the Red Alert warning system, three addition rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome. On Tuesday morning, Netanyahu ordered the military to cut fuel transfers to Gaza in half, which is to take effect immediately and until further notice. The cut is expected to exacerbate the already dire flow of electricity in the impoverished coastal strip.
By Monday afternoon, one of the three turbines at Gaza’s lone power plant was shut down, the strip’s electricity distribution company said, further scaling down production amid the shortages. The rotating blackouts for households, now on an eight-hour-on, eight-our-off supply schedule, would also see further disruptions, it said.
Mr. Netanyahu held a security briefing with IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-General Aviv Kochavi and other commanders following a tour of the northern border. At present, all eyes are directed to the south as Gaza border communities increase the volume of their shouts, demanding a government decision to permit the IDF to bring a halt to the rocket fire.
Netanyahu also instructed his staff to prepare plans for building a new neighborhood in a West Bank settlement near wherRina Shnerb HY”D was killed in a terrorist bombing last week.
The fire from Gaza comes after Israel staged airstrikes in Syria on Saturday against what it said were Iranian drones being readied to attack Israel. Two alleged Israeli drones also crashed in Lebanon’s capital overnight.

“The cut is expected to exacerbate the already dire flow of electricity in the impoverished coastal strip.” Nebech, I feel so bad for them… What, is this from a Pro Palestinian newspaper?
“Gaza border communities increase the volume of their shouts, demanding a government decision to permit the IDF to bring a halt to the rocket fire.” Is that all that is lacking – permission from the government, for the IDF to stop the rocket fire? I think it is a little more complicated than that.
