A criminal indictment was filed in the case of an attempted lynch of a Jewish driver on Salah a-Din Street in East Jerusalem on Tisha B’Av. Police add that additional arrests were made in the case as well.
A policeman who happened to be in the area realized the danger to the Jewish driver, a chareidi avreich, and he got out of his vehicle firing his weapon in the air, as seen in the accompanying video, causing the attackers to flee B”H.
Police investigators began a probe into what could have been a far more serious incident, leading to arrests this week. Three suspects were taken into custody, ages 17, 19 and 21. They were arrested at their homes on Monday, and a search of their homes led investigators to additional evidence.
The suspects were arraigned, and their detention extended until Thursday, August 22nd to permit police to continue probing the case without their ability to interfere in the investigation.
One of the suspects, the 17-year-old, has been indicted.
