Yahadut Hatorah has launched its election campaign and there are already billboards around Israel showing Gedolei Yisrael, including HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita. Billboards have already been seen on the Ayalon Highway.
The campaign’s slogan is “At the moment of truth, we unite”.
Also seen on some of the election posters is HaGaon HaRav Gershon Edelstein Shlita with the caption ” ברכנו אבינו כולנו כאחד”.
Realizing the importance of Gedolei Yisrael for the Yahadut Hatorah tzibur, clearly the party is hoping that persons who understand the gadlus of the rabbonim appearing in the billboards, will cast their ballot for Yahadut Hatorah in the upcoming election.

HOLY GEDOLIM!!!
The Chareidi Tzibur may not necessarily feel good about pictures of the Rav, Shlita being splashed on billboard advertisements as if he was Michael Jordan promoting a pair of sneakers.
During election time, common sense and appropriate behavior take a break.
This is unacceptable. The Gedolim are above politics, especially the brand that is practiced today. Did they ask the Rav shlita if they could use his picture? Did they ask any of the gedolim whose pictures they used? Urging people to vote for Yahadut HaTorah is fine – using secular marketing methods is not. The Gedolim are not “celebrities.” They are klei kodesh, and using their pictures is what Avot means when they forbid “using the crown to dig with.”
Where were you all for the last, I dunno, bazillion years when Chacham Ovadia Yosef ZT”L was splashed across billboards and bumper stickers all over Eretz Yisroel?
