The convicted assassin of Yitzchak Rabin, Yigal Amir, who is serving a life prison sentence, is being punished for holding a phone conversation about starting a political party that would work towards arranging his release. A portion of that conversation was aired on the radio. As a result, the ISA (Israel Security Agency/Shin Bet) has decided to revoke his phone privileges, and Amir announced he is launching a hunger strike in response.
Supporters of Amir, primarily his brother Chaggai and his wife Dr. Larissa Trimbobler, during recent months been busy working towards launching a party that would work towards his release.
It was reported on Wednesday that Amir told the officer responsible for his prison bloc that he plans to launch a hunger strike in response to the cancelation of his phone rights. As far as the Israel Prison Authority is concerned, a prisoner is not on a hunger strike until he passes up six consecutive meals, and only then will they begin to take disciplinary action; including the removal of electronic appliances from his cell, canceling canteen privileges, and more.

Yigal has served more than enough years for a crime he didn’t even plan to commit, as we told it was blank shots, and he was conned. Yigal must be set free immediately.
Amir was a Mossad agent acting upon their behalf in assassinating Rabin.
Why would anyone care if this murderer goes on a hunger strike or whatever he decides to do to himself.??
RABIN HIMSELF WAS A MURDERER, CARRYING OUT THE ORDERS OF BEN GURION IN ATTACKING THE ALTELENA. INSTEAD OF ROTTING IN PRISON HE WAS REWARDED BY PROMOTION.
To Gadolhadeehoe: See comments by 147 and Lakewill for an answer to your question.
More crimes were committed by Yitzchak Rabin then allegedly by Yigal Amir. If Yigal Amir, was an Arab he would be released from jail long time ago.
So it is now illegal for a prisoner to state his (or her) own case? Somehow this feels like the way the whole “trial” was conducted in the first place – a sham with no “real” opportunity for Amir to defend himself.
Starting from the original arraignment where the judge denied Amir any legal representative (over and above the 48-hours grated by law), and denied him the right to speak for himself. And yet at the same time the judge openly gave a speech in court for all to hear (and he knew it would make it to the news) blasting Amir (who was denied the right for anyone to speak on his own behalf) as the person “who does not deny” (notice the convoluted phrasing) that he shot at Rabin.
From there the lead judge at the actual trial openly blasted Amir’s own lead attorney as someone who does not know the law and whose Hebrew is incomprehensible. How is that for a defense lawyer! (in Israel, unlike the U.S., a defendant of a serious crime does not have the option of defending himself but instead is required by law to have an attorney).
And despite a pro-forma (and fake) announcement by the judge that Amir is presumed innocent until proven guilty, the judge denied just about every request by the defense for proper forensic investigations into such things as the car in which Rabin was allegedly transported. The judge used the excuse that he will not waste the money on someone who allegedly admitted shooting (thus clearly contradicting his own pro forma declaration as mentioned).
And the sick ruling by the court on X-rays. The head pathologist Hiss went on public television to hold up to the viewers an alleged X-ray allegedly taken of Rabin during the autopsy. When the defense team asked to see the original X-rays so as to be examined by their own defense experts, the court denied them the right based on an alleged invasion of privacy of the dead Rabin.
@MoisheInGolus exactly
The conspiracy nuts are out in force again.
Midwest2, conspiracy is what you read in Fake News Media.
Calling it a conspiracy is not a serious way of dealing with the overwhelming mass of unanswered questions about Rabin’s killing. The official party line makes zero sense, nor does anyone who accepts it, and calls all other possibilities “conspiracy”.
The most balanced version is that Amir was convinced by the shabak to murder Rabin. Other, more convincing versions, would have him as the dummy set up to take the blow, but his bullets never killed Rabin. Rabin was killed in the car on the 13 minute long unwarranted drive to Ichilov hospital from the shooting scene.
