A woman employed in a hospital in central Israel has been arrested for stealing tens of thousands of shekels from an elderly patient. Police on Wednesday took her for an arraignment, at which time her detention was extended.

Police received a complaint that NIS tens of thousands were stolen from an elderly hospital patient. The patient apparently gave his money to hospital officials when he arrived in the hospital and when he asked for his money later on, it was gone.

An investigation was launched in cooperation with hospital security and police on Tuesday made the arrest of the female hospital employee, a 27-year-old resident of Rishon L’Tzion. A search of the victim’s home revealed some of the missing money.
