Millionaire “Laundry Man” May Bring Olmert Down

olmert fun.jpgWhile a gag order prohibits the publication of details of the ongoing police investigation against Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, the gag order did not prevent the New York Post from running an exclusive story detailing names and facts in the case.

Long Island millionaire Morris Talansky, 75, has been identified as the mystery man who is alleged to have bribed Olmert while he served as the mayor of Yerushalayim. Talansky is a philanthropist who according to the Post gave contributions to many public figures, from former NYC Mayor Giuliani to President Bill Clinton.

Talansky, who runs a Woodmere investment firm, reportedly passed funds to Olmert in the 1990s. Talansky is currently in Israel, and it appears he is the person who will give closed-door testimony in the case following the Jerusalem District Court giving special approval due to the circumstances in the case.

According to the exclusive report, Talansky may be the state’s primary witness against the prime minister, adding his name frequently appears in logs kept by longtime Olmert confidant Shula Zaken, who was also questioned in the case and is currently remanded to house arrest, prohibited from discussing details with anyone.

At times, Talansky is referred to in log books as “The Laundry Man”, and it appears he will continue cooperating with Israeli authorities — but at home, news regarding details of the case is limited due to the ongoing court order.

  1. Dear Mr Olmert,

As a jewish person and a deep lover of the Land of Israel, I can only deplore and protest your wicked and low actions. As a man who represents (in the eyes of the non-jewish world) all Jews, you are a disgrace and a total failure to the high office that you have reached.

I am indeed a political opponent of yours but corruption and bribery ought to be out of the game for all political parties. How long do you plan to continue embarrassing all World Jewry just in the selfish name of the law that you are not compelled to resign? Please do us all a favor already and leave… Let yourself do one courageous and honest act in your political life at least now as the sun sets. You may finally earn the respect of the simple people, something that you have never even attempted to attain in all your public life, rather licking and sucking up to the rich and powerfull.

    Think about it Ehud.

    An honest Jew

  2. it seems that he (talansky) was involved in illegal campaign donations to olmert (in his mayoralty and knesset races), not bribes per se.

the problem is that everyone in israel takes “illegal” campaign donations. it is illegal because non israelis are not allowed to donate (just like in the us, not americans are not allowed to make campaign donations).

but those donations made to rabin and peres are legal, because they are leftists.

dont worry — no one will investigate.

  3. I don’t iknow if he’s guilty. WHat I do know is that he should not deal with Condaleeza Rice about giving up more of Israel because he might be about ready to quit or to be fired.
Also, President Bush is about to leave anyway. So why should the two of them who might be leaving shortly, have the right to make last minute deals???
Olmert should do teshuva but let him do it after he leaves office.

  4. You can all say what you want – there is no way he goes down for this – Hes a political genius – if it means giving back the old city for him to survive then so be it – but there is no way he goes down for this

  5. to #9: probably not. i, for one, would be proud to pick him up from the airport, and bring him to woodmere. as an honored guest.

(provided he arrives in newark. jfk — never!)
