It has been 38 days since Shas Party officials toured Betar Illit, with party leader Deputy Prime Minister Eli Yishai promising continued construction of homes in the chareidi community.

Unfortunately, since that time, no construction has taken place and 39 housing units remain frozen.

With a major police investigation hanging over Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, analysts believe the housing freeze in the community is unlikely to end but Shas officials signal they remain committed and will continue to exert pressure to change current realities.
