A vehicle caught fire by the Ofer Crossing in Jerusalem, and the blaze was extinguished by border police on the scene along with security personnel at the crossing employed by a private company.
The vehicle approached the checkpoint on Tuesday, and security personnel saw smoke coming out of the rear of the vehicle. A border policeman, commander of the crossing, saw the smoke emanating from the vehicle and acted quickly, grabbing a fire extinguisher and putting out the fire without incident. The commander also assisted the panicked woman who was inside the vehicle.
It appears the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit from a taillight. There were no injuries.
