Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who justifiably is concerned regarding the upcoming Knesset election, has for a first time established a chareidi campaign unit, which will be headed by MK Dr. Shlomo Karhi of Likud.
Dr. Karhi, who was elected to the 21st Knesset, is an accountant by profession. He is a talmid of HaGaon HaRav Meir Mazuz Shlita, Rosh Yeshivat Kisei Rachamim and also served in Nachal Chareidi in the IDF and has held numerous public positions.
Likud officials are confident that Karhi will easily navigate his way through the various chareidi communities that exist, as he commented, “I feel a great sense of mission to take on the role that the Prime Minister has given me, to head the Likud’s chareidi unit. The Likud is a major national home for all sectors of the population”.
It is reported this is the first time Mr. Netanyahu has agreed to establish a chareidi unit headed by a MK towards attracting chareidi voters. Some opine this clearly signals the level of concern, as the prime minister sees the polls and is aware that at present, without Avigdor Lieberman and his Yisrael Beitenu party, he will for a second consecutive time be unable to establish a coalition government.
