In the accompanying video, MK (Yahadut Hatorah) Moshe Gafne addresses the outrageous election video released by the Blue & White party by its number two man, MK Yair Lapid.
The video was of a mock WhatsApp conversation on a group run by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, with potential coalition partners being members of the group.
He has Aryeh Deri and Yaakov Litzman vying for all the money the state has for themselves. Deputy Minister Yaakov Litzman called the video “anti-Semitic”, and he was far from the only person to criticize it, including many from outside the chareidi community.
Litzman and others insisted that even for Lapid, this time around he crossed a red line.
Gafne begins explaining that in Jewish history, we have grown accustomed to hearing how some accuse us of being money hungry, seeking all the money we can get. He believes the video is not anti-Semitic since Lapid is Jewish, but he refers to it as “the lowest level of incitement possible and if only we would receive our fair share, just what we are entitled to, but sadly, this is not the case”.
“What does he want from the chareidim children, women and men…Where is this level of hate from…I turn to Benny Gantz to shun him and his words… How can someone like this possibly become a prime minister. He must oust him from the party and then we can see what will be”.
