Security Prisoners Barred from Memorial Day Events – Terrorists Will Attend

In yet another blow to the Jewish security prisoners imprisoned in Israel, they will be barred from attending this week’s Memorial Day and Independence Day events in prisons while Arab prisoners and terrorists will be permitted to attend.

Despite efforts to change the policy, prison authority officials do not seem open to requests to permit them to attend, many of whom having served in the IDF and IDF reserves.

Prison authority officials feel compelled to permit the Arab prisoners to attend so they are not charged with discrimination and fear if the Jewish security prisoners are present, conflicts will result. Therefore, they are depriving the Jewish prisoners of their basic rights and permitting terrorists to attend the ceremonies.

Some people expressed outrage of the news, explaining that the Arab prisoners will derive pleasure from attending memorials for dead Jews while the defenders of Jews remain incarcerated, abused by the Israeli system, deprived of basic rights.

Of late, family members and supporters of the security prisoners, those Jews found guilty of conspiring to attack Arabs, are treated harshly and do not enjoy their basic rights in the Israeli prison system. One such prisoner is Shlomi Dvir (reported HERE on YWN) of Bat Ayin, who was sentenced to 15 years in prison for conspiring to detonate a bomb in an eastern Jerusalem Arab girl’s school. The bomb was detected so the attack was prevented.

Dvir was sentenced in 2002, and since then, was only permitted one leave from prison when his daughter was born. He has expressed remorse a number of times, and has been a model prisoner, yet prison authority officials continue to deprive him of basic rights given to terrorists and criminals.
