(PHOTOS IN EXTENDED ARTICLE)

The Jerusalem Municipality is advancing a new social and cultural campus in the Gilo neighborhood, located in the southern area of the capital.

Mayor Moshe Leon: “Gilo is being renewed and it is evolving, attracting young families. In the coming years, we will invest in renovating and developing the neighborhood in order to enable its residents to maintain the center of their lives in the community. The residents of Gilo – we will continue to renew!”

The municipality is embarking on the establishment of a social and cultural campus in Gilo. The campus, which will be set up in Givat Chazani on Tzviya V’Yitzchak Street, on the planned light rail route, will provide a response to the West’s revitalized and developing neighborhood (Gilo Slopes – מורדת גילה), and will be built on an area of over 2,000 square meters (21,527 square feet).

The building will include activity rooms for diverse activities, and a multipurpose hall, covered parking, administrative rooms, and extensive development areas including a sports field and facility towards creating a complete comprehensive complex.

Construction of the new complex has begun in recent weeks and is expected to be completed in about twenty months. The cost of the project is NIS 34 million, being funded by the city.
