The quick actions of police led to the apprehension of cellphone thieves in Jerusalem within two hours.
Police on Wednesday afternoon received a report of two suspicious men who turned to someone on HaPisgah Street in the Bayit Vegan neighborhood of the capital. They asked him if they could borrow his phone to make a quick call, and when he handed the phone to them, they ran. A short time later, police received a similar complaint from a woman on Herzl Blvd. nearby, explaining the same scenario occurred to her.
Police succeeded in identifying the suspects in a matter of hours, and then obtaining their home address. During the night, police arrived at the home, and during the search they conducted they found a number of cellphones. The suspects, males in their 20s, are Jerusalem residents. They will be taken for an arraignment hearing where police will request the court extend their remand.
