The directorate of Agudas Yisrael has given its stamp of approval for the party’s lineup in the 22nd Knesset race. It will be the same as the lineup which appears in the last election for Knesset, in April 2019. The decision was made during a gathering on Tuesday afternoon in Beit Agudas Yisrael in Bnei Brak.
Deputy Health Minister Yaakov Litzman addressed the forum, speaking of the need to strengthen the party and the continued battle facing the chareidi tzibur at large regarding Shabbos and Yiddishkeit in Israel. He also spoke about Lapid and Lieberman, stating the party would not enter into a coalition with Lieberman. “We are at the point we do not have to say we will not sit with Lieberman, as he will not sit with us” he explained.
He spoke of the connection with Eli Yishai, and that Agudas Yisrael wishes to continue the agreement with him. In addition, he mentioned talmidim of HaGaon HaRav Tzvi Tau are speaking with him, and “we happily accept them” he added. He said that he told Yishai and the followers of Rav Tau the list will remain as is and they cannot add additional people.
Litzman mentioned that Shas chairman Minister Aryeh Deri set the party’s election goal to ten seats, adding “we are doing the same, not less”.
Deputy Minister Meir Porush added that he remains in contact with Yishai and the followers of Rav Tau, “Who did a great deal for us in the last election, not just a few thousand [votes] as some claim, and I will do whatever possible to bring them into Yahadut Hatorah”.
