The cabinet last week held a discussion over a plan forwarded by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu regarding Palestinian construction in area ‘C’ in Yehuda and Shomron, an area that is under exclusive Israeli civil and security control.

The question being asked is will there soon be Palestinian construction in areas ‘C’, legal construction, and in cooperation with Israel? According to a Monday evening report by KAN News, PM Netanyahu is advancing such a plan, Palestinian construction in area ‘C’ aside Israeli construction. The report did however stipulate the construction will only take place if all the ministers serving on the Political/Security Cabinet are in favor as the matter is a most sensitive one.

Last month, Regavim, working with the heads of the large regional councils in Yehuda and Shomron, launched a campaign over what it calls the light-handed government policies regarding illegal construction in areas ‘C’. Regavim claims the Palestinians are taking over large areas of Yehuda and Shomron, areas ‘C’ that should be under exclusive Israeli control, and if the trend is permitted to continue, “A terrorist state is around the corner”.
