Hundreds of graduates from chareidi tracks in the IDF took part in an academic studies and employment conference that was specifically tailored for them, immediately preceding the completion of their army service. In search of prospective recruits, representatives of the Mossad intelligence agency and the Israeli prison system participated in the “Profession for a Lifetime” conference, which held professional training and workshops detailing the rights of soldiers.
The conference took place in Jerusalem, attended by Brigadier-General (res.) Moshe Tzin, the head of the Social Security branch of the Israeli Defense Ministry; Udi Dror, the head of the Recruitment division of the Ministry of Defense; Lieutenant-Colonel Telem Hazan, the head of the IDF’s chareidi administration and representatives of the Netzach Yehuda NGO.
This was the first employment conference of its kind, arranged by three organizations: Netzach Yehuda, the IDF’s chareidi administration and the Defense Ministry’s Social Security Division. The Mossad member who led this process said, “I have been at a lot of employment fairs in recent years, and this is quantitatively the biggest and the most impressive fair that we had. We are glad that we came.”
Head of the Division for Recruitment and Religious Service Routes in the Security-Social Department at the Israeli Defense Ministry, Udi Dror, who initiated the event and took part, said that “this was a first of its kind conference, crucial for making information accessible to chareidi graduates and soldiers, as part of their preparation to get involved in Israel’s academia and job market after they conclude their military service.”
Addressing the soldiers and graduates, Lt.-Colonel Telem Hazan said: “This day is a special day for me and for all those who are present at this event. We have organized this day for you, in order for you to continue the process of personal development and acquiring life-long professional tools that you have started with your military service. You are being presented here with a wide variety of employment and educational opportunities.”
He continued: “We at the chareidi administration constitute a home for the chareidi soldier in the IDF, and in collaboration with many good people, we will assist and accompany the many chareidi soldiers who complete their army stint after a significant amount of service in the IDF’s chareidi tracks. Your success is all of our success. There are soldiers here who are studying in a one-year program of the ‘Maof’ systems and projects department of the ‘Lotam’ Telecommunications and Information Technology branch of the IDF, in preparation for their release from the army. You graduates are personal examples of those who are motivated and successful in life.”
Rabbi Tzvi Klebanow, President & Co- Founder of Netzach Yehuda expressed his gratitude to all those who have financially supported the efforts of the NGO over the past twenty years. Rabbi Klebanow joyfully said that “we have now begun to reap the interest on our 20 year investment. This event is yet another historic landmark for the Nachal Chareidi. It clearly demonstrates the economic impact that the veterans of the Nachal Chareidi venues are making on the Israeli economy”.
