Deri Concerned With The Price Of Travel From Israel To Uman For Rosh Hashanah

Shas party chairman, Interior Minister Aryeh Deri, is calling to break the cartel and reduce prices for flights to Uman for Rosh Hashanah, calling on Transportation Minister Betzalel Smotrich to act before this Rosh Hashanah.

In his letter to Smotrich, Deri cites the “Open Skies” program seems to not apply to the Rosh Hashanah flights to Uman, an agreement between Israel and the European Union nations. This led to a drop in the price of flights, and such a move is needed before Rosh Hashanah regarding flights to the Ukraine for the thousands flying to spend Rosh Hashanah at the tziyun of Rav Nachman ZT”L.

Deri adds, “The phenomenon is growing every year and it constitutes a significant economic burden for thousands of families and there is a significant difference between the price of flights for other European destinations. I would like to work with the Israel Airports Authority and ask the Ukrainian side to apply the Open Skies agreement too.”

  1. No-one should go there and give the anti-Semitic nation Yiddish $
Beside leaving wife and kids at home over Yom Tov
Never been but they say some of what goes on there is so counter productive
Not worth anyone going hamayvin yovin

  2. With inflating soaring all over the Israeli economy in the non-discretionary areas of housing, food and healthcare, this politician is worried about the cost of airfare so that a relatively small percentage of the population can leave their families on Rosh Hashanah and fly off to one of the most anti-Semitic countries in the world??? Get your priorities straight

  3. Seriously? Economic burden for some families? Is this really so important? Where in the world are people’s priorities? Will they be coming to collect for this dire need? THis is a luxury. And for many, I know not for all, this is just shtick. Spare me the whining. And most important, is Uman more Kadosh than Eretz Yisroel that people actually leave Eretz Yisroel for Uman on Rosh Hashanah?? A farkerte Velt.

  4. Perhaps Mr. Deri should be working to make the flights more expensive, to discourage the travel of fathers away from their homes and families over the chagim.

  5. I am not sure why people are so hung up and have such strong opinions on Uman. Rosh Hashana is 2 days of the year. Does anyone know what goes in these peoples’ homes the rest of the year? Is it any of our business? Do we know their Shalom Bayis arrangements? Do we know if they have kids? Their ages? Anything? Leave them alone already!

Is sitting on your computer slinging verbal mud at others a better, more productive activity?

  6. “it constitutes a significant economic burden for thousands of families”
It also constitutes a significant burden for all of Klal Yisrael that this insanity of spending Rosh Hashanah by a Kever in backward country soaked in Jewish blood goes on year after year.
It’s not called being be your Rebbe for Yom Tov when he has been dead for over two hundred years. We are wrong for normalizing insanity.
