Chareidi Women Detained In The Airport In Ukraine

A group of chareidi women were detained trying to enter the Ukraine, arriving as a group from Israel, wishing to be mispallel at kivrei tzaddikim.

Despite an agreement that was signed by Interior Minister Aryeh Deri and his Ukrainian counterpart, stating officials in Ukraine will stop detaining persons arriving from Israel, it appears the policy of detaining them continues. A large group of chareidi women arrived on Monday in Kiev, and local police detained them without explaining the cause for their actions.

Yossi Sigler, a Beit Shemesh resident, whose wife is among those held on Monday, is quoted telling Kikar Shabbos News, “My wife is part of an organized group wishing to be mispallel at kivrei tzaddikim for three days. When they landed in Kiev, the entire group was arrested”.

Did they explain why they were being detained?
No, they did not. They were asked if they have hotel reservations. They were interested to know how much cash they have with them and asked to see their return plane tickets.

To the best of my understanding, most of the women were released [on Monday] and my wife was still being held. They told her that she was being placed on a 11:00PM return flight and would not be entering the country. We are doing everything possible to correct the situation. All she wants to do is be mispallel at kivrei tzaddikim, but it now appears she will be returning home.
