Police and soldiers on Sunday morning removed the Yatir Darom outpost in the Chevron Hills district, only hours after removing a makeshift shul in the outpost near Kiryat Arba known as Chazon Dovid.
According to reports, the removal of Yatir Darom (South) was done in coordination with Yesha Settlement Council heads, who approved the removal of a number of unauthorized outposts in Yehuda and Shomron.
Unyielding in their determination to maintain the Chazon Dovid shul, activists on Sunday night rebuilt the makeshift structure, announcing to authorities once again they will continue defying the government for as long as it takes to create facts on the ground, to make their presence a permanent one. Police however once again destroyed the outpost on Monday morning. According to activists, it was taken down for the 31st time but they remain determined to rebuild once again.
The government’s actions appear are timed to coincide with a two-day high-level shuttle diplomacy visit by US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who is pressuring Israel to remove checkpoints and roadblocks throughout Yehuda and Shomron areas as the American administration continues tenacious efforts to hammer our an agreement between Israel and the PA.
