Israel: June 2013 Terror Watch


hamasJune 2013 saw a decline in the number of terror attacks: 103 attacks as opposed to 124 in May. The main decline is noted in the number of attacks in Yehuda and Shomron: 60 as opposed to 83 in May.

However, there is a slight increase in the number of attacks originating in Gaza: 4 attacks as opposed to 3 in May, and in Jerusalem: 39 as opposed to 38 in May.

One security officer was injured this month by firebombs and stones throwing north to Jerusalem (June 5).

Data regarding terror attacks in June 2013

Following is a regional distribution of attacks:

4 attack from Gaza (3 in May); 60 attacks in Yehuda and Shomron (83 in May); 39 attacks in Jerusalem (38 in May).

Jerusalem, Yehuda and Shomron: Most attacks executed in June (88 out of 99) were in the form of firebombs (May: 102 out of 121).

Distribution of attacks according to regions and pattern profile:

Following is a distribution of attacks in June 2013 according to regions:

Gaza– 4 attacks: 3 rocket launchings; 1 IED.

Yehuda, Shomron and Jerusalem – 99 attacks: 7 IED (5 in Jerusalem); 4 small arms shootings; 88 firebombs (34 in Jerusalem).

High-trajectory launchings from Gaza and Sinai

Throughout June 2013 5 rockets were launched towards Israel (in 3 attacks), as opposed to 2 rockets (in 2 attacks) in May.
