Benny Gantz: The Chareidim Understand They Must Be Flexible

The head of the Blue & White party, MK Benny Gantz, addressed his efforts to bring the chareidim closer, to view his party as a viable alternative to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and the Likud party. To date, the chareidi parties explained that the Blue & White party is not an option because they will not sit in the same coalition as MK Yair Lapid, who holds the number two slot on the Blue & White list for Knesset. Gantz however continues to insist that his running mate, Lapid, “is not anti-chareidi”.

In an interview with Ynet on Wednesday, Gantz explained “Yair is a fitting partner, a leader, and we have a rotation [agreement]. He is not anti-chareidi and we are not hiding anything from anyone. He is active, working on all front, and does good and proper work. He has an agenda. We have discussions and we are good friends, good partners and consult frequently. The chareidim understand they will have to be flexible”.

Regarding the city council decision to permit buses to operate on Shabbos in Ramat Gan, Gantz added, “We are in favor Shabbos without harming the lifestyle of others, and therefore, they are doing it on a local level, permitting buses to run without bothering anyone”. He was referring to the fact the buses will operate on main thoroughfares only, without entering neighborhoods, and not in religious or chareidi areas.

“This is exactly the Blue & White line. In areas where possible, because of the population. We will not suggest anything like this in Elad or Rosh Ha’ayin, where religious people live, but this too could be possible”.

In his words, “We are concerned with live and let live for all, and will support those he seek it, being there for everyone”.

  1. This genius will never understand that it’s not about bothering from people, rather about botheringShabbos itself.
Frum parties agreeing to his plan would be tantamount to agreeing to chilul Shabbos.

  2. R R R great principle but you have forgotten the greatest principle in political life, $ $ $. Where are the Charedi parties going to get that from if they do not join a government coalition?

  3. “They must be flexible”
And he and his #2 (a good name to call lapid) don’t have to be???

They don’t understand THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS FLEXIBLE WHEN IS COMES TO THE TORAH!
(As R S Schardon said try demanding a builder be flexible when building!!)
