Ayelet Shaked has been negotiating with the Bayit Yehudi and Ichud Leumi parties, and with the same plan in mind, right-wing unity, she has met several times with Itamar Ben-Gvir of the Otzma Yehudit party. Last week, the two met in her home in Tel Aviv, and they remain in close contact since the meeting as she attempts to increase the right-wing bloc before the upcoming Knesset election.
Ben-Gvir stated, “I have a wonderful connection with Ayelet Shaked. We had a number of productive meetings, but I do not intend to publish the contents of the meetings. Otzma Yehudit is busy making connections towards saving the State of Israel”.
Ben-Gvir a number of weeks ago announced his party would run independent of Bayit Yehudi as he accuses party leader, Rabbi Rafi Peretz, of failing to implement the Norwegian Law as he promised would be the case, which would have permitted him and a second person to enter Knesset.
A recent poll shows that Shaked remains the most popular candidate to lead the right-wing camp, with 31%, as compared to Peretz with only 7%.
