HaGaon HaRav Baruch Solovechik, who was appointed by Maran HaGaon HaRav Aaron Yehuda Leib Shteinman ZT”L as a member of the Vaad Rabbonim of Degel Hatorah in Yerushalayim, has decided to resign from the vaad as well as all public activities in the city.
According to Kikar Shabbos News, a number of Degel activists recently approached the rav to enlist his assistance, and they learned of his decision. The rav explained that he has decided to invest all of his efforts in the yeshiva instead of public activities.
One is reminded that the rav was involved in negotiations with former Mayor Nir Barkat and succeeded in achieving the “neighborhoods agreement” with Barkat, which assist the chareidim in communities that were secular in the past and becoming increasingly chareidi.
