195 Jerusalem Employees Accept Lucrative Early Pension Offer

After many years, the Jerusalem Municipality together with the Histadrut National Labor Federation and the workers’ representatives, proposed a voluntary retirement plan in the Jerusalem municipality. The plan was also shared by the Ministry of Finance.

The target population for the retirement program – employees over the age of 50 and over 20 years of service.

As part of the plan, a call was issued to city employees in April 2019, and hundreds of applications were submitted to the workers to examine the retirement conditions, of which 195 employees are completing their service under the plan.

The retirement process was carried out in the best possible way and lasted about two months.

It should be clarified that the last retirement plan implemented by the Jerusalem Municipality was carried out during 2004-2007 as part of a recovery process, in which approximately 700 employees retired.

Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Leon: “The process of retirement is voluntary, especially for those who felt a need for refreshing and renewal [of the ranks]. I thank all the retirees, in my name and the name of the previous mayors and wish them success. The Jerusalem Municipality will always be a home for you.”

Danny Bonfil, Chairman of the Federation of Workers in the Jerusalem Region, said: “I congratulate the loyal municipal employees who retired as part of the retirement plan. The Histadrut in the Jerusalem area, headed by me, will continue to be a warm home for all municipal employees, of course also for outstanding employees who have retired after many years of service. I wish everyone success in the future.”
