Police Forbid First Response Motorcycles To Approach Protests

During the Peleg Yerushalmi protest in Jerusalem that saw hundreds block Sarei Yisroel Street near Yaffo St. a number of acts of violence took place against security forces and medical first responders.

Police report that 21 protesters were arrested by police for disturbing the peace.

During the protest, a mounted police officer lost control of his horse when the horse slipped and fell injuring the officer and a protester. Volunteers from United Hatzalah as well as ambulance teams from Magen David Adom rushed to aid the injured. One United Hatzalah medic was accosted by the crowd who almost succeeded at toppling his ambucycle during the scuffle.

Police regained control of the scene and both injured parties were treated and transported to the hospital. The protester who was injured was listed as being in moderate condition.

Following the incident, the Police Spokesperson’s Office issued a statement that said: “During the protest, a mounted police officer was injured after he slipped with his horse due to a protester who would not get out of the street. The officer has been transported to receive medical attention.”

Police also issued a directive to both United Hatzalah and Magen David Adom to disallow the use of motorcycles in the area of any of the protests currently going on throughout the country. All first responders, those on motorcycles and those without, are to stay behind a security line until the police ensure the safety of the responders’ approach to injured people in any of the protests.

  1. Just bring in an arab truckdriver to restore free passage. Anyone who tries to topple a medic cycle does not deserve to walk on this planet.

  2. Thank you YWN for showing us time and time again how biased the Israeli Police are, and how they release their all their rage at the chareidim
(Disclaimer: I do not belong to Peleg nor do I agree with their views)

  3. Ok, fine protest all you want but why block major roads??? Go in front of Netanyahu’s house, by the knesset, in front of the High Court of Justice Plaza but please, please don’t hurt other people & don’t block traffic – maybe your own son is in that ambulance being transported to the Hospital & can’t get through b/c you & your friends are standing blocking the way?

  4. Refuah Shelimah to the police officer and protestor but I think they should not use mounted police at these types of protests…it’s like the Cossacks, and they reserve them for hareidi and settler protests.
    Get out the water cannons
