Report: Feiglin & Bennet Nearing Agreement To Run Together

The chairman of the New Right and Zehut parties have reached a principled agreement on running together in the upcoming Knesset elections, but there is a major disagreement over who will head the party.

Moshe Feiglin, chairman of the Zehut party, and New Right chairman, Naftali Bennett, have agreed in principle to run together, Ynet reported Monday. However, there was nothing new from the ultimatum from Feiglin to resolve the fundamental dispute over who would lead the joint list. Feiglin is proposing open primaries to determine the lineup, but Bennet is not agreeing to this. According to the report, it is estimated that the discussions between the two will be closed in the coming weeks.

Feiglin and Bennet have been conducting intensive negotiations, including private meetings as well as party officials meeting with one another. It appears that the ideological issues have been worked out and what remains is to determine who will run the list.

Feiglin on Monday, in his usually fashion, denied the report on Monday morning, as he usually explains he does not conduct negotiations in the media and if and when he has something to announce, he will do so personally.

  1. Bennet has come out publicly claiming that there he has not had any negotiations with Feiglin and that Feiglin is pushing this story in the media to grab some headlines and attention. I hope that this is true. It would be far better for Bennet to retire from politics than to join forces with Feiglin and his stoners.
