Thieves broke into the dormitory of Yeshivas Beit Matisyahu in Bnei Brak on Shabbos and stole cash from the wallets and closets of talmidim. Following the instruction of rabbonim, the talmidim filed official police complaints on motzei Shabbos and crime scene investigators responded to the dormitory in the effort of gathering evidence.
Police also began checking surveillance cameras in the area of the dormitory on Rabbi Akiva Tachton and Sorotzkin Streets.
Talmidim explain the money was basically what they hoped to use for “pocket money and expenses” for the coming month, and now, some will not be able to travel home or make even minimal purchases for some sweets or phone cards in the coming weeks. It is explained the amount taken was the money of dozens of talmidim, and many are now left without any funds as they had recently returned to yeshiva after Shavuos, bringing money given to them by parents.

This is very sad, perhaps the Yeshivas will consider blocks of small safes, like the ones in hotels so these students funds can be secure.
