Degel MKs Consult With HaGaon HaRav Edelstein Regarding Lieberman’s Harsh Anti-Chareidi Line

Members of Knesset of the Degel Hatorah party on Thursday morning met with HaGaon HaRav Gershon Edelstein Shlita together with HaGaon HaRav Natan Zuchovsky

MKs attending the meeting included Moshe Gafne, Uri Maklev, Yaakov Asher and Yitzchak Pindrus.

The meeting centered around the harsh anti-chareidi attitude and statements released by MK Avigdor Lieberman, who chairs the Yisrael Beitenu party.

During the meeting, the MKs claimed that Lieberman was expressing himself harshly in order to gain headlines and votes, asking to hear the opinion of Rav Edelstein as how to relate to the matter.

They also discussed the situation in Ramat Gan, as Mayor Shema Cohen next week, at a city council meeting, hopes to have a majority vote in favor or running public buses on Shabbos R”L.

  1. i would like to know which seifim in the Tur or SA deal with this issue? I would assume that the approach is better determined by political experts and gedolim should not double as political advisors. they can opine about the halakhic wisdom of an approach, but coming up with an approach is an entirely different matter. kach kibalti mei’rabbosai.

  2. Can we somehow put out the message that anti-chareidi is anti-Israel, it’s only bezchus the Torah and fulfilling its mitzvos that we have any right to calling Israel our home country! How and when can we make the so called zionists understand that?!

  3. ruach, zionist like myself feel protected by the young men of hesderand others in the IDF; unfortunately in their number were many kedoshim who died in the defense of artzeinu ha’kedoshah.

  4. Dr Yidd we should surely appreciate the effort that the header boys and all of the soldiers make for the protection of kcal yisroel. We must remember that they are shluchim of Hashem, He is the One protecting us, and they are His messengers. Let us not forget that and Chas vesholom not fall into the grave mistake of kochi veotzem yodi. It is also in the and surely in the merit of those that observe the Torah and the mitzvos that Hashem continues to have faith in us and protects us. We cannot risk losing our faith in Him, and His will for us-which is kiyum hamitzvos-it is only in that merit that we have any right to Eretz Yisroel. The Israeli prime ministers themselves keep quoting the Torah, that Hashem promised it to our forefathers! The same Torah obligates is to keep shabbos, kashrut, chagim etc. It is in the merit of keeping the mitzvos that we get to have Eretz Yisroel!
