The action was carried out after the Regavim and Shomron Council petitioned the High Court of Justice against the regional director of the Civil Administration, who did not fulfill the order to evacuate the buildings that prevented the paving of an access road to the yishuv there. Dagan: “The matter of enforcement against illegal Arab construction is critical to the settlement movement”.
The Civil Administration cleared illegal structures erected on land belonging to the settlement of Leshem in Shomron. The Regavim organization explained that it took seven years after the demolition order was issued to actual carry out the order.
The movement said that a Palestinians had invaded state lands within the boundaries of the settlement and settled on a plot of land intended to for a paved access road to the community.
According to them, seven years ago, the first demolition order was issued, but following the exploitation of the legal bureaucracy, the order was not implemented, and new buildings were added over the years. Due to the protracted legal processes, construction of the road in this area could not be carried out.
On Thursday morning, the Civil Administration carried out significant enforcement and destruction of some of the illegal structures that were erected.
Yossi Dagan, head of the Shomron Regional Council, said: “We are happy that enforcement has taken place, and it is better late than never. The issue of enforcement against illegal Arab construction is critical to settlement”.
