Jerusalem district firefighters on Thursday morning rescued a chareidi family of ten from a burning building on Yaakov Yehoshua Street in the Pisgat Ze’ev neighborhood of the capital, Thursday morning.
United Hatzalah and Magen David Adom EMS personnel arrived on scene and treated the parents and four of their children for smoke inhalation. Firefighters succeeded in extricating them from their home by using a ladder. The children were aged 5, 4, 3 and 5 months.
Fire department officials report that B’chasdei Hashem, they rescued the family from the burning structure under difficult conditions, as the fire was burning out of control and there were heavy smoke conditions during the rescue operation. The fire also spread and caused damage to adjacent homes, the report states.
Six victims, the parents and four children, were transported by MDA to Hadassah Ein Kerem and Mt. Scopus Hospitals in the capital.
United Hatzalah volunteer EMT Aryeh Shavit said “Firefighters used a crane to extricate the victims who were suffering from inhalation. We treated them at the scene before they were transported to Har Hatzofim hospital for further treatment.”
