The COGAT (Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories) on Tuesday announced Israel is halting the delivery of fuel into Gaza in response to continued incendiary balloon attacks from Gaza into Israel. There have been 13 fires as a result of the balloon attacks in a 24-hour period, resulting in Israel’s halting the fuel deliveries “until further notice”.
The IDF on Tuesday morning announced it has decided to halt fuel deliveries into Gaza via Israeli crossings in response to the continued incendiary balloon attacks from Gaza. According to COGAT, the continued attacks will not be tolerated, and the fuel deliveries are being halted “until further notice”.
Three of the 13 fires that resulted from the attacks from Gaza were in the Shar HaNegev Regional Council area, with a large one near the community of Nir Am. There were also fires in the Eshkol and S’dot Negev Regional Councils. Most of the fires were B’chasdei Hashem brought under control in a number of minutes. In the S’dot Negev Council, a fire began directly next to a kindergarten. That fire was brought under control without incident and B”H there were no injuries.
COGAT Major-General Kamil Abu Rokon on Sunday permitted the transfer of liquid helium into Gaza for medical use, for MRI machines in hospitals. He stressed that this did not represent a new policy, rather a response to a humanitarian request, to assist the operation of essential medical equipment in Gaza hospitals.
