Ichud Leumi Approves The Deal With Bayit Yehudi, Again

The Ichud Leumi party, headed by Minister of Transportation Betzalel Smotrich, has agreed to renewing the agreement to run together under the Bayit Yehudi party in the upcoming Knesset election, which is set for Tuesday, September 17, 2019.

During a closed meeting of the party’s leadership body on Monday, it was decided to maintain the same order on the combined list as it was in the last Knesset election, a few months ago. As such, the first position on the Bayit Yehudi list is held by party leader, Minister of Education Rafi Peretz. The second slot goes to Ichud Leumi’s Smotrich. However, as talks continue to bring MK Ayelet Shaked back to the party, changes may result.

The vote to renew the agreement was unanimous, 63-0, as well as agreeing not to change the order of the lineup.

The call was one of achdus, explaining the time demands the dati leumi tzibur unite as to avoid a repeat of the situation that compelled new elections, or worse, the formation of a left-wing government.
