Israel Police’s Major Crimes Unit, Lahav 433, on Monday morning raided both Tiveria and Petach Tikvah City Halls as part of an ongoing investigation addressing public corruption.
Members of the Lahav 433 team raided the official buildings and confiscated documents and arrested one person, a private supplier, not a city employee. A second person taken into custody, reportedly a Petach Tikvah City Hall employee. He is suspected of bribery, fraud and breach of trust.
According to suspicions, those involved, each according to his share, acted to promote tenders in violation of the law.
The police said that the investigation was being conducted by the Israel Police, accompanied by the State Attorney’s Office for Taxation and Economics.
A spokesman for the Petach Tikvah Municipality said that this is a nationwide investigation into the conduct of a cleaning company that works with many local authorities, including the Petach Tikvah Municipality, regarding a tender that was examined from the previous administration.
