The head of the Blue and White party, former IDF Chief of Staff MK Benny Gantz, has come out openly, expressing adamant opposition to the appointment of MK (UNRWP) Betzalel Smotrich to a cabinet post and as a member of the Security Cabinet.

Using Facebook to get his message out to the public, Gantz decried the decision of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to appoint Smotrich to the cabinet, as well as to the Security Cabinet.

“Abandoning security in return for legal immunity” Gantz exclaimed, adding “The security situation in the region is shaky and we are a short decision away from fighting that we have not seen in the Middle East since the Gulf War.

“And with what is Netanyahu occupied? Mr. Iran before it all. This morning, bringing Betzalel Smotrich into the Security Cabinet, the most sensitive room in the State of Israel”.

In his words, “A man who encouraged citizens to block roads and confront the security forces, and called for the ‘depletion’ of the population of Gaza, will sit in a room opposite the IDF Chief of Staff and head of the Mossad, as they detail sensitive security plans and serious secrets. The discussion there will be conducted seriously and for the benefit of the state and its citizens?”

Gantz called on the prime minister: ” Bibi, don’t sell Israel’s security for immunity. Do not turn our security into personal political business. Stop the appointment of Smotrich to the cabinet!”
