Gaza Fishing Area To Be Expanded To 10 Nautical Miles

Despite the balloons of terror, a political source confirms – the fishing area in Gaza will be expanded again to 10 miles, Walla News reports.

A political source confirmed Tuesday that fishing was being conducted in Gaza after a naval closure was imposed due to the flare-up of the incendiary balloons and cross-border shooting. The return of the previously larger fishing area comes despite the flare-up of the many incidents and incendiary balloons from Gaza in recent days. Residents and community leaders of Gaza border communities are outraged as Israel’s continued restraint in light of almost daily attacks, including the incendiary balloons.

On Monday, after the introduction of Qatari money into Gaza, Hamas announced a “new phase” in the understandings with Israel. The new measures include support for poor families, improvements in electricity and water services, import and export measures, and employment programs. Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem said that the implementation of a large part of the understandings had begun “as part of Qatar’s prominent and admirable role in implementing the understandings, especially the efforts of the envoy Mohammed al-Amadi.”

On Monday, Palestinian media reported that Hamas gunmen fired at an IDF force in the Khan Yunis area of Gaza and forced it to withdraw, but no casualties were reported.

Senior Hamas figure Khalil al-Haya said at the end of the week that “we are continuing with Mladenov, the Qataris and the Egyptians to compel Israel to adhere to the understandings, which he said were achieved through a process and a strong desire to remove the closure on Gaza”.

In the shadow of his remarks last Friday, 6,500 Palestinians participated in demonstrations along the Gaza border, of which 47 were injured, according to the Health Ministry in Gaza.
