Contrary to reports last week that the case was being closed, the Justice Ministry’s Police Investigation Unit (PIU) is signaling the case is far from being closed, and just this week, the unit has received the testimony of the victim, 23-year-old Yanki Rosenberg, who is autistic.
According to a Ladaat News report, a special investigator of the PIU took testimony from the victim. A special investigator is being appointed to the case because the victim is a ‘special needs’ individual.
The testimony was taken at the office of unit in Jerusalem, and it took place after recent testimonies were taken from all the policemen involved in the incident.
The policemen involved in the incident were verified with videos from a number of photographic angles documented and acquired by police.
The assessment is that after taking the testimony from Yanki himself, the investigation will be accelerated.
Yanki was taken into custody and brutally beaten by a border policeman while he screamed and pleased for mercy. Simultaneously, persons present shouted at police that he is a “special needs” individual, but the policeman nevertheless did not show any mercy and beat him mercilessly.
Yanki was arrested for allegedly pushing a female plainclothes officer, who then called for backup, leading to the incident. This was proven false after video footage emerged.
