Tuesday saw a slew of motor vehicle accidents including two fatal car accidents and one fatal train accident that left three people dead in the central part of Israel.
The first accident occurred in the morning saw a nine-year-old boy seriously injured after he was hit by a bus on Rambam Street in Hadera. EMS teams from United Hatzalah and Magen David Adom responded to the accident and treated the child before he was transported to Hillel Yaffe Medical Center.
United Hatzalah volunteer Shimon Meshulam who was one of the first responders at the scene reported: “The young boy was suffering from severe injuries to his lower limbs. He was in serious condition when he was transported to the hospital.”
The second accident of the day, and the first fatal one, took place at the Kfar Chabbad Train Station when a 70-year-old man was hit by a train and killed on the spot. United Hatzalah volunteer EMT Chaim Meir Friedman who was first at the scene said: “Due to the severity of the injuries the man sustained there was nothing for first responders to do except to pronounce the man’s death with great sadness.”
The next serious accident took place on Highway 471 where a taxi cab and a private car were involved in an accident that left the cab driver in moderate to serious condition. The other driver was lightly injured.
Another fatal accident occurred on Highway 4 near the Coca Cola intersection by Bnei Brak. A pedestrian was struck by a car and was in serious condition according to initial reports from the field. He was transported to Tel Hashomer hospital where he later died of his wounds.
Another accident that resulted in a critical injury took place on Tuesday afternoon when a young boy of six was struck by two cars and crushed between them in a parking lot of the Petach Tikvah mall. One of the boy’s legs was severed from his body as a result of the accident. EMS teams responded to the scene and took the boy to the hospital together with his severed limb.
Another fatal accident occurred in the Bedouin settlements in the Negev desert near Highway 25 on Tuesday evening. Medical teams that responded to the incident found a six-year-old boy who had seemingly been hit by a car near his own home. The EMS teams, unfortunately, pronounced the death of the child at the scene. Police are investigating the incident.
The last major accident for the day took place in Rehovot on Tchernichovsky Street where a 60-year-old man was driving and involved in an accident. His was the only vehicle involved when he hit a lamp post an then a wall. The driver was suffering from full-system trauma. He was transported to Kaplan Hospital for further care and treatment.
