Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Thursday sent “reassuring messages” to the Yahadut Hatorah faction following the appointment of MK Amir Ohana as temporary justice minister.
According to a report from News12, the message to members of Yahadut Hatorah is that after the elections, the intention is to move Ohana from the post of justice minister to the position of minister of communications.
The Likud spokesman denied the allegations and claimed: “No message was sent to Yahadut Hatorah.”
MK (Yisrael Beitenu) Oded Forer responded to the publication and attacked Netanyahu and the chareidim.
“The ministers’ appointments are already being carried out in accordance with halachic dictates,” he said. “This proves what we have said all along – Netanyahu has given in to all the demands of the chareidim and is leading Israel to be a halachic state.”
“The report reveals the fact that every action by Netanyahu is manipulating elections in order to conceal the truth, and that is how we should relate to it. This is evident in the size of the deficit that was concealed before the previous elections, as was the postponement of the pension cuts (postponement and not annulment), just to pass the elections.”
Deputy Minister Yaakov Litzman and MK Moshe Gafne issued a statement in response to the report. “In the election period, when almost every day there is a report, a message or a leak in the name of a spokesman or head of Yahadut Hatorah, we would like to clarify that these are things that never happened, they are not relevant and have no meaning.”
