POLITICAL COMEBACK? Ehud Barak Announces His Candidacy In The Labor Party Primaries

Former Prime Minister Ehud Barak, who is 77, is trying to make yet another political comeback, officially announcing his candidacy to run in the Labor Party primaries, hoping to once again serve as the party’s leader, Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) reported.

After the report, Barak tweeted, “If I have something to announce, I will do so via Twitter”.

The primaries for the Labor Party primaries will be held on July 2, less than a month from now. The current chairman of the party, Avi Gabbai, has yet to announce whether he will run again after the party’s major election defeat. Former MK Knesset Eitan Cabel has indicated he too will seek the leadership position and it appears likely that MK Tal Russo, who announced earlier this week that he was giving up a requested guaranteed slot, which would place him in second place on the list, may also consider running for the party’s leadership post.
