The life of a four-year-old girl was saved on Sunday by the quick intervention of a first response paramedic from United Hatzalah.
At approximately 5:00PM on Sunday afternoon, Lahat Ma’ayan, a volunteer paramedic from United Hatzalah who resides in the distant Kibbutz Beit Nir located in the Lachish region just north of Beit Guvrin, was dispatched to a playground on the Kibbutz. The dispatch came out as a four-year-old girl who had been stung by a bee and was suffering an anaphylactic reaction.
Ma’ayan rushed over and arrived in a very short time. He saw the girl and quickly understood that the allergic reaction she was suffering was indeed extreme and immediately life-threatening. He began providing medical treatment involving advanced drug therapy to counteract the allergic reaction.
The treatment succeeded and Ma’ayan managed to stabilize the patient long enough for a mobile intensive care ambulance to arrive at the scene sometime later. The girl was transported to the hospital in moderate but stable condition thanks to the lifesaving treatment she received at the scene.
