Rishon L’Tzion HaGaon HaRav Yitzchak Yosef Shlita during his weekly shiur on Motzei Shabbos in the Yazdim Shul in Jerusalem spoke about the Shechita of meat under the Hechsher of the Badatz Eida Chareidis.
According to the Rishon L’Tzion, the standard of the meat under the hashgacha of the Badatz Eida Chareidis is no longer on the level it used to be, and one should use another hechsher than that one, which regarding meat, is among the lowest level there is for Sephardim.
“Is the Eida Chareidis from Shomayim? Quite the contrary. The meat of others is preferable than that of the Eida and I say this with total responsibility”, stated Rav Yosef.
The rav added, “There are many hechsherim Baruch Hashem, Ben Porat Yosef. The meat of the hechsher is the lowest there is.”

The Sefardim always said that Sefardim should only use Sefardic hechsherim for meat.
Not to mention that the Eida Charedit is full of Anashaim Chataim Lashem
Why r u making a complicated halachic issue political????? Shame on you ywn
1- Joseph, Rav Yosef is not referring to this but the level of hashgacha in all its facets. In other words he’s simply saying that they don’t do a good enough job in some or all of the aspects of hashgacha ( shechita , melichah ,nikoor etc.). That makes no difference Ashkenazic or Sephardic.
2- There is reason , based on the shita of the Beis Yosef in lesions on the lungs, for a Sefardi to only use a Sefardic hechsher. This is not what the Rav is referring to . According to him they simply are not careful enough.
#joseph,
That’s because the Sefardim will only eat if its חלק בית יוסף, which doesn’t comply with Ashkenazi hechsher,
Correct me if I’m wrong
all ashkenazim eat chalak bet yosef nowadays
This is not news. Sephardim never ate eidah meat lechatchila.
the beis yosef gives a hechser to Jack Daniels Honey liquer. the OU, OK and Star K say it is not recommended (see their websites).
I asked my rav, how could the beis yosef which is based in Israel give a hechsher to a product in the USA when they probably do not have a rep there. My rav answered me in a manner that made it seem for money you can find a heter.
So now Rav Yosef who family profits from the low level beis yosef hecher is saying the eida is no good?
Limnos yameinu. Rabbi dg?
Just heard that shiur, put the two together..
> chymee
As far as I understand things, anyone calling themselves Badatz and especially Charedi (and these are the ones who are the topic of the article) claim they use only “mehadrin” meat which is “supposed” to mean glatt which is “supposed” to mean the strict Sephardi standard.
Follow the Benjamins

People are talking about “Beis Yosef” as a standard in kashrus meaning it complies with the Beis Yosef/Machaber. The hechsher called “Beis Yosef” is low quality and unrelated.
I understand the attraction to “straight-talk” statements like this in the same way that people like Trump’s style. But, I can’t help but observe that when people get into this kind of stuff and take a team-sport kind of approach, they end up wondering why their Sphardi kids don’t fit in at Ashkenazi establishments. Naturally, they probably conclude it’s racism, meanwhile our gedolim would never say anything like this about a Sphardi organization.
a 21 second clip out of how long a shiur? where is the context?
Garilc, do you realize that you made an assumption and you are clearly spreading motzee shem ra because of it?
In case anyone is curious, there are two countries that produce Jack Daniels Honey. One is made in the US which has no hashgacha and is not recommended by any kashrus organization. They also produce it in Belgium which does have hashgacha from Badatz Bet Yosef.
People don’t know anything about the organization and assume the worst…
If anyone really wants to know more about them, I suggest reading the review of them on the Jerusalem Kosher News blog.
