The residents of the city of Arad can breathe a sigh of relief: the three thieves who mugged a chareidi woman from the Gerrer Chassidus by knifepoint and escaped were Baruch Hashem caught by police. They were brought in during the day, and have been arraigned and are being held without bail. The bag stolen from her was recovered as well.
Police say that the suspects followed the young woman after she withdrew money from the bank, and attacked her under her building, making off with her purse.
The husband of the woman, who was home at the time, heard her screams and he ran downstairs but arrived too late.
“At the end of extensive police activity, three minors were arrested on suspicion of robbing the woman in Arad with threats by knifepoint,” the police said Tuesday.
On Monday afternoon, the Israel Police received a report on a robbery incident in Arad. An initial questioning of policemen who met with the complainant raised suspicions that a number of suspects had threatened her with a knife while climbing the stairs to the building where she lived, and then robbing her of the bag file in her possession. B’chasdei Hashem, the woman was not hurt.
Police report all three suspects in custody are minors, ages 14, 16 and 17, all residents of Arad.
