As Lag B’Omer is just days away, the Israel Electric Corporation is warning and asking the public to exercise caution when lighting bonfires on Lag B’Omer. The company warns and emphasizes that there is a danger of burning bonfires near electrical installations located in various locations.
It should be noted that placing high piles of trees and burning them under the lines of the electricity grid is particularly dangerous, for fear that the fire and heat will reach the electric wires and cause their burning. This is a life-threatening situation, causing damage to facilities and power cuts.
Adding to Lag B’Omer safety concerns is the weather forecast, calling for ‘sharav’ heat-wave conditions throughout Israel. The unseasonably hot and dry weather results in prime conditions for the spread of fire.
