The IDF has appointed an officer of the rank of colonel to probe events on Beit Hanoun on Monday, which according to the Palestinian Authority led to the deaths of four children and their mom.

Israel has already attributed the explosion to the detonation of munitions in the possession of nearby terrorists, rejecting PA allegations that a stray Israeli tank shell killed the five. Nevertheless, under mounting international pressure as the photos of the dead are viewed globally, an officer of the rank of colonel will investigate and report his findings within 48 hours.

Hamas has vowed to avenge their deaths, stating they will deliver a painful blow to the Israelis for the murders of the children and their mother.
